Lascaris

Lascaris runs in your own environment, on your Kubernetes and your S3. We do not sell licences and we do not run a SaaS. You pay for three things: a yearly support package, fixed-price projects, and engineers by the week when you want them. There is no charge per GiB, per partition or per broker hour. Your cloud bill for compute and object storage stays with your cloud provider.

Questions about pricing

What do I pay for with Lascaris?

Support, projects and engineers. The software has no licence fee and runs in your environment. You choose a yearly support package, book fixed-price projects for architecture, deployment or migration, and add engineers by the week if you want them. Your cloud provider bills you directly for the compute and object storage you use.

Is anything metered?

No usage meter. We do not charge per GiB written, per partition, per broker or per hour. The one volume item is storage in the operated package on IBM Cloud: 2 TB are included. Each additional TB is billed at a fixed yearly rate, shown on the Lascaris Operated on IBM Cloud card.

What does a support package include?

Lascaris Support includes an onboarding configuration review, the DORA Article 12 and NIS2 Annex II evidence pack, a quarterly DR test runbook, updates for the supported release and email support. Lascaris Operated on IBM Cloud adds operation by Scalytics, monthly signed compliance reports, multi-cluster configuration support and 2 TB of storage.

How fast do you respond?

Lascaris Support answers within 2 business days by email. Lascaris Operated answers within 1 business day. The Standard and Premium retainers answer within 24 hours on Slack or email, and the Premium retainer adds emergency on-call for production incidents.

Is Lascaris a SaaS?

No. Lascaris runs in your cloud account, your data center or an air-gapped site, on your Kubernetes and your S3. With Lascaris Operated, Scalytics runs it for you on IBM Cloud as a support service.

Can I start with the backup only?

Yes. You can start with an immutable backup of the Kafka you already run, on Confluent, Redpanda, Amazon MSK or Apache Kafka, under Lascaris Support. Production is untouched, and you decide later whether to move any workloads.
